Dark souls 2 mods change difficulty12/18/2023 ![]() This is based on the sheer volume of its exploration and replayability. The difficulty just creates a more rewarding experience, but it shouldn't be the driving force behind your love of the game. And yet, despite the dozen games I’ve listed here, Remnant…does not feel derivative. It's good design, good atmosphere, good controls. What, is Sonic '06 good then because the controls are so broken and glitchy that it makes it extremely frustrating to progress? No, difficulty doesn't make a game good. Being difficult shouldn't make a game "good" in any way. Even if it was easy, I'd love the fluid combat, the dark atmosphere, and the bare bones "determine for yourself" story, among other things. Everyone wins.Īlso, you admit that literally the only thing that makes DS good is that it's difficult? If you truly think that, I'm sorry for you. You get more PvPers, Fromsoft gets more money, and more players are happy. Some of these people will then go into regular difficulty. So what's the problem? You get your difficulty and people who want to get their feet wet are allowed to. Second, creating a second, different option that you will never choose inherently doesn't affect you. Essentially, you just supported my point. There's plenty of little leagues for people who want to play the game, but aren't pro material. You don't have to be a pro to play sports as you seem to imply. I don't mind Fromsoft making a spinoff using DS's mechanics and making a more casual game, just leave the DS series alone, make it harder. It's like Chuck norris without the roundhouse kick. It's like Chicago bulls without Michael Jordan. The difficulty is what makes DS stand out. We want the "virgin experience" back, we miss the first time we went through it, the blood, sweat and tears we shed going through the game. Look at the challenges that some people do already, SL1 runs, No shield runs, Calamity ring runs, NG+7 fresh start.Īnd here you are arguing for scalable difficulty? Once you know the mechanics you can pretty much own it in any way. Saying, "its alright, its just for fun, for experience"Īthletes appreciate the competition while casuals won't.ĭS in the same way, the fanbase appreciates the challenge, the niche it provides, whereas casuals shy away from.ĭS without the challenge is just a generic hack and slash game.Īs i said DS isn't at all the difficult, it just has a steeper learning curve. Would you then allow amateurs or people who don't know how to play join the olympics or something like the NFL or NBA? Let me know if you expereince the same satisfaction you get when playing on the highest difficulty.Ĭasuals just think of it as just a "game", whereas athletes who are passionate about it or work hard for it, consider it more than just a "game". Play 2 playthroughs, first on the highest and the second on the lowest difficulty. ![]() Go play any other RPG with scalable difficulty, like witcher or Dragon age. It's easy to say that now especialy when you have friends you want to introduce it to, but the whole experience would change if such a difficulty is introduced. An easy mode would be a nice way to introduce them into the game without the soul-crushing despair and intense fury of dying again and again. One of my friends doesn't want to buy DS because he knows its difficulty for being obscenely difficult and frustrating. Besides, it could used as a way for people new to the series to want to join. It's a game, it's meant to be enjoyed, through difficulty and challenge or otherwise. Originally posted by CordedUberator:I don't see why not. I like that you have to step up your game and that it requires a certain level of skill in order to beat it instead of facerolling your controller/keyboard. I find DS's niche is the satisfaction you get from beating a challenge. Such as Dragon Age or the Withcer series.Ĭonsidering its more gameplay focused with a minamilistic approach to the lore and story, why the hell would you want to scale down the diffculty? I would understand if DS was story oriented, then having a difficulty setting can be for those who only play RPs for their story. You can literally kill a dragon with a butter riously? a butter knife? the so called dragons that once ruled over humanity. ![]() ![]() It has potential to be one of the best rpgs out there, but its difficulty is sh!t. It spoils the whole game and lore experience.įor example, look at Skyrim. ![]() I really don't want the "casuals" coming in. There are many more games that i find much harder to accomplish. There are many other games out there that can provide similar experience but with a more manageable difficulty. The niche of the game is its difficulty.if you don't like it then don't buy it. ![]()
